Privacy Policy
01. Scope and responsibility
This Privacy Policy explains how Clarke the Reader Inc. handles personal information associated with clarkethereader.com, orders for physical reading accessories, customer inquiries and related store operations. Clarke the Reader is responsible for its decisions about customer information. Shopify and other providers may separately process information under their own terms where they act independently.
This policy describes the types of processing relevant to the store. It does not mean every optional feature, app, advertising integration or tracking technology is active. The actual checkout, privacy settings and installed services determine what takes place. Optional integrations should be assessed before they are enabled.
02. Information you provide
When you order, we may receive your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, purchased items, quantities, order identifiers, delivery instructions and communications about the order. A customer account, where offered, can also contain saved addresses and order history. Please provide only information needed for the transaction or request.
Messages can contain a product name, question, order reference and any attachments you choose to send. Do not include complete payment card details, identification documents, medical records or other sensitive information that is unnecessary for a reading accessory inquiry. A demonstration form that does not transmit entries does not send those entries to us merely because it shows an acknowledgment.
03. Checkout and payment information
Payment services process the financial information required to complete a purchase. We can receive transaction status, payment method type, a limited payment reference, refund status and other information needed to reconcile the order. We do not use an inquiry form to collect full payment credentials.
The precise payment information handled by Shopify or an enabled processor depends on the service and payment method you choose. Their privacy notices describe processing performed under their own responsibility. We use the order and transaction records available to us for fulfillment, accounting, customer assistance, fraud prevention and legal obligations.
04. Information collected through the website
Shopify and enabled technical services may process an IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from network information, requested pages, timestamps, referrer information and interactions with store features. Cookies and similar technologies can support carts, secure checkout, language preferences and the operation of the storefront.
Analytics and marketing processing depend on the actual store configuration and any consent or opt-out requirements that apply. The supplied site design does not by itself establish that advertising pixels are installed. The Cookie Policy explains the categories of technology that can be used and how relevant preferences should be controlled.
05. Why information is used
We use information to process orders, take payment, arrange delivery, respond to questions, manage returns and refunds, keep appropriate financial records, prevent fraud and protect the store. Customer communications can also help us correct product information or identify a recurring issue.
Marketing communications, if introduced, should be sent only where permitted and should include a usable way to withdraw from future marketing. Giving information for an order or product question is not treated as an unrestricted consent to unrelated marketing. The current inquiry interface does not subscribe a visitor to a newsletter.
06. Legal bases where required
Where an applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, we process order information to perform a purchase contract or take steps requested before it; maintain certain records to comply with legal obligations; protect the store and handle ordinary customer service based on legitimate interests where permitted; and obtain consent for processing that requires it.
Consent can be withdrawn for future processing without affecting processing already lawfully performed. A legitimate-interest purpose should be considered alongside the individual’s rights and expectations. These descriptions do not claim that every privacy law applies to every visitor or that an optional use is permitted without the necessary assessment.
07. Sharing with service providers
Information necessary for store operations may be shared with Shopify, enabled payment processors, shipping providers, email or customer service tools, accountants and professional advisers. A carrier normally needs a name, delivery address, contact details and relevant parcel information, not unrelated customer correspondence.
We may also disclose information where required by law, in response to a valid legal request, to protect legal rights or in connection with a legitimate business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell a customer’s order record as a product. Whether an optional advertising arrangement is legally classified as a sale or sharing must be assessed before that arrangement is used.
08. Retention and security
Order, payment and correspondence records are retained for as long as reasonably needed for fulfillment, returns, disputes, accounting and applicable legal requirements. Different record types can have different retention periods. We avoid keeping unnecessary inquiry information indefinitely merely because it was supplied.
Access controls, reputable service providers and appropriate technical measures are used to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a security incident requires notice under applicable law, we will provide the required notice. Please do not transmit sensitive data through ordinary contact channels unnecessarily.
09. International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than where a customer lives. Applicable safeguards depend on the provider, locations, services and legal requirements. Where a transfer mechanism or contractual safeguard is required, the relevant arrangement should be in place.
Using the store does not waive a mandatory privacy right. Contact us if you need information about processing relevant to your order or about an applicable transfer arrangement. We will consider the request in light of the services actually used.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on the law applicable to you, you may have rights to access information, correct it, request deletion, obtain a portable copy, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent or opt out of a legally defined sale, sharing or targeted advertising. You may also have a right to complain to a competent privacy regulator.
Send a request to care@clarkethereader.com describing what you need. We may ask for proportionate verification before disclosing information or changing an account. A deletion request can be subject to recordkeeping, legal-claim or other lawful exceptions. We will explain an applicable limitation instead of treating every request as automatically accepted or denied. Requests and eligible appeals will be handled within the time required by the applicable law.
11. Children, fonts and external services
The store is intended for customers able to make ordinary retail purchases, not for collecting information from children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. If you believe such information has been supplied, contact us so it can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
The design’s font files are hosted through the store’s Shopify file delivery service. Requests needed to deliver a font can involve network and device information in the same way as other storefront assets. Third-party sites, payment services and apps have their own privacy practices; their notices should be reviewed when their services are used.
12. Updates and contact
We may revise this policy when the store’s processing or relevant requirements change. The updated date identifies the current version. Where a material change requires additional notice or consent, we will take the required steps rather than relying solely on a silent page update.
Contact Clarke the Reader with privacy questions, requests or concerns using the details below. Include enough information to identify the relevant order or interaction, but avoid sending sensitive documents until they are specifically needed through an appropriate channel.
