Cookie Policy
01. What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies can be used on clarkethereader.com, operated by Clarke the Reader Inc. It should be read with the Privacy Policy. The store uses Shopify for storefront and checkout functions; the technologies active for a visit depend on Shopify settings, enabled apps, the visitor’s choices and the features used.
This page is a description of relevant categories and controls, not a claim that every example technology is installed. A current cookie inventory should reflect the live store and be updated when apps, pixels or other integrations change.
02. Cookies and related technologies
A cookie is a small value a website asks a browser to store. It can help recognize a session, maintain a cart or remember a preference. Session cookies generally expire when the browser session ends; persistent cookies remain until their configured expiry or deletion.
Local storage, pixels and other technologies can serve related purposes. Storage duration is determined by the individual technology and current provider configuration. A cookie’s exact name and lifetime can change, so a generic list should not be treated as a substitute for an inspection of the live store.
03. Essential storefront and checkout functions
Essential technologies can support a shopping cart, secure checkout, fraud prevention, session continuity, network security and the operation of privacy choices. Disabling them may prevent an order from being completed or make a cart fail to persist.
Where permitted by applicable law, technologies strictly needed for a requested service can operate without optional cookie consent. Calling a technology essential does not make an unrelated advertising purpose essential. Any app introduced to the store should be assessed according to its actual use.
04. Functional preferences
Functional technologies may remember language, currency, region or other preferences that make a visit more convenient. Whether a preference technology is strictly necessary or optional depends on its role and applicable requirements.
The supplied contact form does not save a visitor’s name, email, phone number or message in local storage. Its demonstration acknowledgment is a browser interaction, not evidence that information has been transmitted or stored in a customer database.
05. Analytics technologies
Analytics, if enabled, can help understand which pages are used, whether a feature works and how customers move through the store. Such technologies may process a device identifier, page requests, interaction events, timestamps and network information.
Nonessential analytics should respect required consent or opt-out settings. The presence of a Cookie Policy does not itself activate analytics, and the supplied storefront code does not install an advertising or analytics pixel. Analytics introduced through Shopify settings or apps must be reviewed separately.
06. Advertising and marketing technologies
Advertising technologies, if introduced, can connect interactions with campaign measurement, audiences or ads shown elsewhere. They may involve third-party recipients and identifiers and can be subject to specific consent, sale, sharing or targeted-advertising rules.
We do not assume that a visitor has agreed to advertising tracking merely because they browse a product page or add an item to the cart. Optional marketing integrations should be connected to the appropriate privacy controls before they are used.
07. Consent and preference controls
Where optional technology requires a choice, the live store should provide a consent banner or preference mechanism that can accept or reject the relevant categories. Shopify customer privacy settings can govern Shopify-specific tools and pixels. Manually added third-party tools may require additional logic or another compatible consent solution.
Required consent should be obtained before the relevant nonessential activity begins. A visitor should be able to revisit the available settings and change a prior optional choice. A decorative banner that records a preference without controlling the relevant tools is not treated as adequate implementation.
08. Browser controls and signals
Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies and limit some forms of tracking. The exact steps depend on the browser and device. Clearing cookies can reset cart contents, preferences or a previously recorded privacy choice. Blocking all storage may affect checkout.
Where applicable law requires recognition of an opt-out preference signal, the store’s settings and integrations should honor the signal for the relevant processing. Technical limitations or unsupported integrations should be resolved rather than represented as a guaranteed browser-wide opt-out.
09. Third-party services and fonts
Shopify, payment processors and enabled apps may set or read technologies within the functions they provide. Their current documentation can explain provider-controlled identifiers, retention and processing. A payment service can have security requirements distinct from optional storefront advertising.
The design’s typography uses font files hosted through Shopify store file delivery. These font requests are part of delivering storefront assets and do not install an advertising pixel in the supplied design.
10. Keeping this page accurate
Changes to checkout configuration, apps, analytics or marketing tools can alter the live technology inventory. The policy date should change when the description is materially updated. Privacy controls and the page text should be reviewed together.
